Hi everyone! I am new here and just wanted to see how your experience with embryo's alive was? I just received the info from them to complete. Was the wait long? Were the fees pretty much what they were listed on the fee sheet? Any info is appreciated. Thanks Stacy

We used them. We now have a beautiful toddler! The wait for us was just a couple of months. It really depends on how many available embryos you are willing to go for according to what you are looking for and if someone picks you when you do. It took us several tries before we were chosen becasue we already have what some consider a lot of children. The fees with the agency were what we were told they would be. Everything went as smooth as it could when you are dealing with this kind of situation and the donors are involved. let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the info. I think we are going to go with them. So, if you get 4 embryos from a donor and you only use two, do you get to keep the other 2 in case the first try doesn't work?

Yes...whatever you "adopt" they are your little babies. We had 8...ended up with 2 good ones after thawing..had one little guy. Best thing we ever did....and we are actually going to do it again! We would like to have one more. Do you see any profiles you are interested in? She seems to get new ones in fairly regularly.

Actually, I did see one I am interested in. I still need to get my paperwork to her before she can present to any donors. I just had my appointment with my RE to make sure he thinks I would be a good candidate. He said yes so I am moving forward. I hope this works out. I am almost 40 and we have already done all the treatments including IVF.

I scanned my paperwork to her then mailed it so we could get moving faster. I was almost 40 when we did this too and had been through treatments. I hope it all goes we for you. If you haven't already, start working on a "Dear Donor" letter. It took me awhile to write one.

I know. I am worried about that. What kind of information did you put in your letter?

I told them who we were, how old, how long we have been married, what IF treatments we had been through...told them about the kids we have...we go to church every week...what ministries we were involved in...how we would love any child/children etc. I think you can google sample letters and I think Bonnie has some too. In fact i just did that and here is something explaining how to write one and that it should have. of course it won't be dear birth parent, but dear donor. hope it helps. . www.birthmombuds.com/bmom_letter.htmJust keep googleing...you can find anything that way!

Wow, thank you so much!! So how many pages was your letter? By the looks of that sample mine could be pretty long. I appreciate your help. Right now we are not telling anyone, not even family what we are doing so it helps to talk to someone who has been through this. My family knows about our infertility but I just don't want to let them in on this just yet. Did you tell anyone in your family right away?

No problem. I am glad to be able to help someone...I am very passionate about embryo donation. Our letter was about 3 pages I think. I wrote the rough draft, I just kept writing and writing... then I would go back a few times to it and edit it, cut things out if I felt it got too wordy etc. Then i gave the final one to my husband to add to it, edit etc.
I told my mom at first...once we had embryos I told the rest of the family and our closest friends then after our Lo was born, we told everyone else. You kind of just have to go through the journey then do things when you feel it is right.
Are you guys wanting an open or closed donation? We have a semi open one.

I think semi open would be ok. I am not sure I would want totally open. I would want to give the child a chance to contact siblings. I actually just met my half sister last year so I know how that is. I am going to start my letter tonight. Bonnie sent me some examples too. So hopefully I can write a good one!

Thanks! I will keep you posted. I should have my packet out sometime this week. I still have another Dr. appointment before I can start looking at embryo's. That should be in the next two weeks. I hope everything goes well and it doesn't take too long to get matched.

Ok so I sent my packet to Bonnie today. After you picked embryos, did your clinic have to approve them before the donor family looked at your profile? If so, how long was that process?

Hi there....so sorry I am late at answering this. I was out of town.....
The donor family still looked at our profile. I did go see my RE after I submitted out stuff to them to make sure he would accept them, but he was a new RE so I had to go see him anyway.....my last RE wouldn't accept any embryos that were not created in her clinic, but the new one would. It all happened so fast for us..... I got an appt with my RE pretty quickly and the donors decided quickly too. I think it all took a week. The donors were very ready to decide.
I am so excited for you....I hope it all works out quickly for you.
